Turkey; a pleasant old time

Turkey might be the world’s most contested country.  Its landscape is dotted with battlegrounds, ruined castles and the palaces of great empires. This is the land where Alexander the Great slashed the Gordion Knot,where Achilles battled the Trojans in Homer’s Iliad, and where the Ottoman Empire fought battles that would shape the world. History buffs can immerse themselves in marvels and mementos stretching backto the dawn of civilisation.

Turky Transportation

Public transport is a good way of getting around. There are minibuses, buses, taxis, trams (from Aksaray) a new subway (between Taskim and Levent) and a tiny electric tramcar. Boat tour is a very popular tourist attraction in Antalya. They are operated by several boat operators usually using old fishing boats. The cruise will take a visitor around both sides of the harbour. Turkeys’ centrally located land has an easy access from both Europe, Asia and the States. Turkey and the main center Istanbul receive planes all around the world and is a stop over point for many airline companies. Also by Trains there are available from Germany through Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria directed to its final destination Istanbul.
Turkish Food
siskebap: The food eaten for breakfast in Turkey is similar to the food found in a typical Western breakfast.  Fresh Turkish bread is usually served with butter, honey, jam, feta cheese and olives. Tea is usually served to wash down the food at breakfast.  Alternatively hot milk sweetened with honey is available. For lunch and dinner Fish is usually fried or poached and served with vegetables and lemon juice. If you prefer eating meat then Turkey has great lamb, chicken and beef which are usually cut up and served as a kebab. Kebab is a staple food in Turkey and is charcoal grilled before being served in pita bread stuffed with salad and sauce.

The Kariye Museum is  after Hagia Sophia, the most important Byzantine monument in Istanbul. The existing building was built towards the end of the 11th century and dedicated to Christ the Savior.
