Merlion:
Merlion is originally located at the mouth of the Singapore River. it was designed since 1964. It then settled into its new home here at Merlion Park, located next to One Fullerton, overlooking scenic Marina Bay. The Singapore Merlion is made of cement fondue, its skin from porcelain plates and eyes from small red teacups. the Merlion attracts more than one million visitors a year who make the trip to the Merlion Park. There are five official Merlion statues in Singapore.
The Night Safari is the first wildlife park built especially to be viewed at night unlike the traditional nocturnal houses elsewhere, officially opened on 26 May 1994. The Night Safari occupies 40 hectares of land, with some free ranging animals from South America and other parts of Asia, such as the Indian rhinoceros to tarsiers.
The Fishing Cat Trail consists of ferocious fishing cats, here seen preying on the fishes with great intensity. Other inhabitants of this trail include other Asian animals such as the Asian mouse deer, Indian gharials, the noisy and playful little clawed otters and the highlight of this trail is the Malayan flying fox - the largest bat in the world. The highlight of this trail would be the Mangrove Walk. The ride is focused on displaying many of the endangered species from the regions of Asia, Africa and South America.
Pulau Ubin could be the very last kampung or village in Singapore. This is a place full of legends, with an enthralling history and geography. Once a busy village, Ubin accommodated a school, temples and shrines and the famous historical site in the island, near of Chek Jawa, is the ‘House No. 1′. Pulau Ubin is a nature park with the basic amenities and trails, campsites, chalets and shelters. For the physically active, this island has facilitated their visitors for trekking and cycling.
Singapore Johore Battery is a war memorial site in Singapore that dates back to the early 1940s. Some of the other major coastal batteries were the Pasir Laba Battery, Labrador Battery and the Fort Siloso Battery. The British built the Johore Battery in 1939 at the start of World War II, as a gun emplacement site consisting of a labyrinth of tunnels. Before Singapore fell into the hands of the Japanese, it is said that orders were sent out to destroy the guns. Tunnels were sealed up after the war.
The Johore Battery remained a secret till April 1991. A replica of the monster gun and 15′ inch shell is now located at Johore Battery, Cosford Road - Changi. Formerly known as the Singapore Zoological Gardens, displays animals in the open. Residents of the animal kingdom roam spaciously in landscaped enclosures. At the Singapore Zoo, you will no longer find the oppressive cages found in conventional zoos. Be entertained by white tigers, elephants, baboons, polar bears, reptiles and of course, the infamous Orangutan. Sir Stamford Raffles was the founder of the modern Singapore. The Lieutenant-Governor of Java and Bencoolen. First landed in Singapore on 29 January 1819, he believed that Singapore was a great place for the British to start a trading settlement. Located at the north bank of the Singapore River, this is the Singapore’s second of Sir Stamford Raffles.
Fullerton Building was the centre of Singapore’s commercial, social and official life Built in 1928. It became home to the three of the most important institutions of Singapore; The General Post Office, The Singapore Club, and The Chamber of Commerce. This building represents a significant and statuesque of Palladian architecture with its distinguishing Doric columns in Singapore.
